Personal Skills Development Ideas

Ideas for skills in need/want of development: - Audio (editing, affects, software and hardware learning) is not something I know much about currently, theory and practical wise. I think it would be useful for me to learn more. - Lighting (using professional and amateur setups to create interesting lighting situations) - Presenting 'serious' presentations/information (have been told by Suzy it would be useful to practise presenting non-comedic presentations, as I am good at non-serious ones but may not be for other) - After Effects as a whole 5 Skills to improve: 1. Lighting (regular & creative) 2. Professional audio recording (using lapel mics, boom mics, XLR & phantom power kits) 3. Multi-cam filming put into editing 4. Adobe Audition (generally learning & getting used to using the program) 5. Adobe After Effects (learning more basics of the program) 5 Projects that will help improve these skills: 1. Play around with lighting and record some cool looking shots with...

Stop-Motion Project Analysis

Image
As part of our skills development section of the course, we as a whole class planned, filmed and edited from scratch our own stop-motion video. Each of us took on a variety of different responsibilities throughout the project's creation, which ended up taking a little over a month worth of college time to complete. Personally, I helped with the editing for the earlier stages of the creation, as well as small amounts of writing, filming (which involved taking photos and moving the characters to the desired positions for that frame), and audio. Once completed, the video was roughly fifty seconds long, and included visuals, voice acting and sound effects. This was the first time creating a stop motion project like this for a lot of us in the class. As a result, I personally feel like what we managed to create turned out decently well. I found the project quite difficult at times, such as moving each prop into the position with the blue tac without messing up too much (like dropping th...

Creative Enterprise Ideas - Initial Ideas

Main Topic: Video Editor Unique Selling Point: Missing in Norfolk area Description: Our local area is not one that is known for housing many creative businesses and successes. Other than the big TV companies like ITV and BBC, and a few video production places, despite the large amount of people wanting to be creative and create their own types of video content, there are not many video editing businesses in the area. This is where my business idea would come in. Whether it is to help musicians who want music videos to accompany there videos but don't know how to edit, or online creators who want to produce consistent content but don't have the time to create the quality of content they want that often, I will communicate with them, share inspirations and ideas, and then use their supplied footage to create the finished projects they want. written 11/10/2021

Additional Research into my Industry

ScreenSkills -  https://www.screenskills.com/ The website 'ScreenSkills' is a National Lottery funded company which refer to themselves as one which supports "growth across the nations and regions by investing in the skilled and inclusive workforce who are critical to the UK screen industries' global success". Their site contains lots of helpful information for those looking to get involved in the creative industries, whether this be by finding a job in the industries or creating their own. Under the 'build your portfolio' section, their are many tips on how to make a good showreel in order to have a better chance on getting into the industry. This is useful to me, due to me intending on having a page on my website where past examples of my work are going to be displayed so potential clients can know what I can do for them, with one of these pieces of work potentially being an up to date showreel. These include making sure it is short , not putting in too ...
