Creating a Personal Portfolio
1 - Conspiracy Designs | ( https://skateconspiracy.carbonmade.com/projects/6241569 ) - Graphic Design
The website the portfolio for Conspiracy Designs' is held on opens up in a unique and visually interesting way when first typed in, immediately beginning a short animation of the creator's title being typed out on screen, before dissolving into the actual portfolio. This helps the site stand out from other portfolios as soon as the site is found, causing it to stick in the mind of whoever comes across it and become a higher potential of being returned to in the future as a result.
The site is the split into three short parts, displayed within a list on screen; these are labelled as 'Advertisements', '2D' and '3D'. While this makes it much easier for those looking through the portfolio to find exactly the type of graphic design they are searching for and decide whether or not the person behind the work is someone to consider quicker and easier, the list itself is simply a bland, grey background with lighter grey text on top, which doesn't stand out as much as the prior animation and may give a boring impression of the graphics the person is capable of immediately just from the quality of the list graphics. As well as this, the site only includes seven examples of work, which may be only small amount, but also means that there is less for the viewer to sift through and only the best examples can be immediately seen.
2 - Solu Productions | ( https://soluproductions.carbonmade.com/ ) - "Photography. Videography. Concept Development"
Solu Productions' portfolio immediately lets the reader know what to expect within it - "Photography. Videography. Concept Development". This is good to save the time of whatever potential employer may be looking at it, telling them what they'll find inside it if they decide to look deeper as the very first thing they see.
While the aesthetics and presentation of the site may not be anything special visually, it works quite well practically for its purpose. As many other portfolios of similar types do, each type of work is split into its own section which can be selected on the front page. Once entering whatever section the viewer decides to, for example on the 'Entertainment' section, they will be presented with multiple examples listed vertically one after the after, each showing off the skills of the person behind the work on the portfolio and partnered with a short but informative description below it, describing what the piece of work is, who it was for, what year it was from and what about is made it worthy for the site (for example - "'How You Been?' is a student film written, directed, filmed and edited by Sade Ogunjimi (SOLU Productions) in 2018.).
3 - Quinn Birkholz (https://quinnbirkholz.com/portfolio ) - Variety
This Portfolio is full of a massive variety of content types that the person behind the portfolio, Quinn Birkholz, is experienced in. On top of this, the portfolio has been made in a way that shows his personality too, including his experiences as an LGBT+ creator, photos of him in many different genres and situations, and styling each page in a unique colour and style when compared to most portfolios of similar genres.
The portfolio is split into 6 different mini portfolios - Digital Content, Performer Portfolio, Podcast & Radio, Writing, Events & Public Speaking and Music. Each section includes lots more information about previous work, significant roles, relevant images and so on, all separated into easily found and labeled categories on the front page. As a result, finding whatever skill or talent anyone looking through the portfolio may be looking for is made incredibly easy and streamlined, as well as visually interesting throughout.
