Analysis/Decisions Explained:
Above are my four rough ideas for what my business's logo could potentially be, with some slight variations of each. The first logo was the first idea I had a while ago, being my first attempt at creating a visualization for what a company of that name and purpose could look like. My reasoning for the look of said logos were written earlier in my blog, and are as follows: "The main colours seen in the logo are blue, purple, white, black, and navy, with the purple and blue acting as the main colour scheme for the branding. These colours are often seen to mean a lot of things for logos, but in this situation, is meant to resemble the 'creativity', 'respectable', 'original' and 'compassion' that drives the creation of all of the business's projects. Similarly, the blue which runs alongside it stands for the 'trust', 'success' and 'communication' that can be expected from potential clients when working with me. The 'O' in the logo has been replaced by an eye however, resemble the individuality of both the company and the client, with each project being made specifically for each client, meeting their unique needs and wants."
These colour themes and reasonings stay consistent throughout all of the logos, including the blue shadows behind the clouds on the second idea. The clouds here are examples of soft shapes, which are used in order to be easy on the eyes of any potential clients who may look at it, while also working as a metaphor for a thought or idea bubble often seen in media such as animation and comic illustrations, fitting the overall company's theme of creativity. The font choice shares a similar reasoning, being 'Sans-Serif' and varied in sizes to look 'different'.
Compared to the previous cloud design above it, this 'wave' logo idea is much harder when it comes to its visuals and imagery. The waves resemble those of audio and/or video waves that are seen in editing programmes such as Adobe Audition or Premiere Pro, which would be recognized by creators (who are the target audience of the brand). While it is not as easy on the eyes as the other, softer design choices, the jagged look of it does help it stand out to those who see it, while sharing the soft blue shadow like the cloud does above it. The fonts used, specifically the one for 'Memento' are again used due to them looking slightly hand made and 'unclean' in design, while the one for 'video', with the wide spaces in between each letter, in my eyes resemble old video logos from the VHS days I used to see as a child.
The fourth and final logo idea is an updated variation of the first ideas, with the feedback I got after my logo pitch taken into account. To start, the blue eye has been removed and changed to a camera lens to fit the 'creative' look better and to less resemble the Turkish 'evil eye' (which I had been told it may accidentally resemble too much). I also changed the 'edits' text to say 'video', in a pencil-like font which matched the theme of the drawn circle much better, which itself it is apparently seen by many (such as by the creators of the current Starbucks logo) as something which represents 'eternity', due to it having no beginning or end point. (This eternity represents the impact and memorability that's always being strived towards for each of the video projects my company will accept and produce for my clients). The circle used here specifically is not clean circle in order to resemble a hand drawn shape. This is a representation of how this business is one of creativity, made by individuals by hand.. The font of the 'Memento' was also changed, with the colour transitioning from a boring black to a blue-purple colour, to help it stand out for the wrong reasons less.
